Metros Travel Soccer
Introduction
Metros FC youth soccer programs offer training and competitive play to boys and girls in the local and surrounding areas in Rochester, NY. Regular soccer league matches are played in neighboring towns (typically less than 30 minute drive) in the Rochester area during the months May-July.
In 2023-2024 Metros FC members are eligible to participate in basic skills group training for one hour each week with JGP Soccer. Contact travel@gatessoccer.org for additional information.
Individual teams normally train throughout the Fall and Winter months, in preparation for the local district Summer league season. Teams train at indoor facilities and may choose to participate in local indoor soccer leagues or indoor tournaments as part of their activities. FC member registration fees are nominal, and teams may choose to host fundraising events, or seek donations, to supplement team funding and to pay costs for activities. FC Teams will also participate in the annual Metros FC Tournament.
Age eligibility for Metros FC is 8U-19U. A tryout/evaluation is typically required for the player to demonstrate a reasonable level of interest and ability before participating in the program. We encourage you to contact us for any information regarding the Metros FC travel soccer program.

Notes about the age requirement
Note that in some cases, where player ability and skill may warrant it, a player may join a team in the age group +1 year. This requires approval of the travel program coordinator and coaching staff. Players may not "play down" to a lower age group. Contact us for more information regarding age groups for travel soccer.

Mission Statement
Metros FC serves both girls & boys equally, works to improve the level of play for each player and demonstrate the fun aspects of learning the sport that is soccer. We teach players the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fitness while considering their individual development. Part of our mission is to be a catalyst for a positive youth sports culture in all communities we interact with.
Age groups 09U-12U are mostly for developing skills, while ages 13U-19U are typically increasing levels of competitive play. Metros FC Travel Soccer is an organized, safe, and enjoyable soccer experience for youth players who want to participate throughout the school year.

OVERVIEW
Metros Travel Soccer programs offer a competitive soccer environment for the enjoyment of our players and their families. Training is an essential part of any travel soccer program. Many of our teams train in indoor facilities throughout the fall and winter months and into the pre-game season. Players must attend a tryout to be considered for placement on a Metros Travel Soccer team.
Travel soccer is a great environment for competitiveness and high-level skills training. Any players considering making the jump to a traveling team should be made aware of the following:
- You will be required to try out and will be placed on a team according to ability.
- Higher level development. Technical and tactical skills are taught along with rules of the game to prepare players to compete with teams inside / outside of Monroe County and for high school competitive level of play.
- Players looking to play in a more competitive level , high school, college and beyond should seriously consider joining a travel team for development and to hone their skills.
- Travel soccer can be more expensive than recreational soccer. It can incur costs from professional coaching, increased practice time and travel expenses.
- There is no guarantee of playing time. The best players play. The best players typically come about as a result of practice, repetition, and discipline
